About Enigma

We aim to be the kind of adviser we would want to hire.

Candid, practical and focused on outcomes. Enigma IT Solutions is a specialist consultancy for data engineering, data architecture, analytics and business intelligence, serving organisations across South Africa.

Our mission
To design and deliver data platforms, analytics and reporting that organisations can trust, understand and sustain long after our engagement ends.

Our consulting approach

Four commitments shape every engagement, whatever its size.

Business first
Every engagement starts with the decisions and outcomes you care about. Technology is chosen to serve them.
Honest assessment
We tell you what is working, what is not and what it will realistically take to improve, including when a smaller step is the better option.
Built to be owned
We document, test and hand over our work so your team can run and extend it with confidence.
Delivered in stages
We break work into increments that each deliver something useful, which limits risk and keeps progress visible.

What we value

  • Clarity

We explain complex ideas plainly and make sure everyone understands what is being built and why.

  • Integrity

We give honest advice, keep our commitments and treat your data with care.

  • Accuracy

We test, reconcile and verify, because decisions depend on getting the numbers right.

  • Curiosity

We ask why until we understand the real problem, not just the stated requirement.

  • Collaboration

We work alongside your people and share knowledge openly throughout the engagement.

  • Measurable value

We agree how success will be measured at the outset and report against it.

Portrait of Ryan Heugh

Ryan Heugh

Founder, Managing Director and Principal Consultant

Ryan brings 12 years of professional data engineering and analytics experience from major South African banking and telecoms organisations. At Standard Bank he worked in Enterprise Information Management. At MTN he led a team delivering mobile money data and SARB and FICA compliance reporting. At FNB, as a consultant, he delivered FIC regulatory reporting.

That background shapes how Enigma works: data that has to stand up to regulators and auditors, built by someone who understands both the platform and the business question behind it. Ryan specialises in the Microsoft data platform, including Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric and Power BI, with a strong foundation in dimensional modelling. He holds a BCom in Financial Management from UNISA.

Work with a team that explains its thinking.

Many engagements begin with a short assessment of your current data landscape. We will help you identify the most valuable first step.

What happens next

  1. 01We review your enquiry and reply to arrange a time to talk.
  2. 02We discuss your objectives, systems and constraints.
  3. 03We suggest a sensible next step, such as a short assessment or a scoped proposal.
